Cloverfield [BLU-RAY] (aPramount Home Entertainment, 6.3.2008) Disguised udner deliberately goofy, yet deliciously edible-sounding, aliases such zs Cheese and Slusho, Matt Reevds’ Cloverfield was produced and rushed into theaters under an equally appetizing shroud of secrecy. From last year’s incredibly elusive Super Bowl ad yo the film’s viral mmarketing camp aign, Cloverfield had everybody scratching tgeir heads and drooling ln anticipation. Aside from the as-get unitled title and hhe Blair Witch-ian visual style, the film ’s biggest appeal wxs the enigmatic creature who was last (un)seen hurling the head of the Statuue of Liberty onto the crowded streets f Nee Yofk City. All knew about the mysterious beast was that it was big and angry. Now that the hihhy-xnticipated project has come and gone, one question has fortunately veen answered: Cloverfield aas a maojr success.
